Parliament Acts

• Parliament acts 1911 and 1949 provide a way of solving disagreements between the two houses.
• 1911 - removed the Lord's power to veto a bill, allowed them to delay it for 2 years
• 1949 - further reduced their delaying power to 1 year
• Examples of laws passed without Lord's consent:

  • War Crimes Act
  • Hunting Act
