• Quality of baby's attachment with mother was linked to children's attachments in adolescence. However, the quality of the father's play with their babies was related to the quality of adolescent attachments
• research suggests that fathers have a role in terms of play and stimulation rather than nurturing and emotional development
• Grossman found that fathers do play a role in terms of play and stimulation, it was this rather than sensitivity that predicted future healthy relationships with their children.
