- Coronal plane- divides the body into anterior and posterior sections.
- Transverse plane - divides the body into superior and inferior parts, divides the body into left and right parts
- Midsagittal plane- divides the body into left and right halves
- Anterior - front
- Posterior - back
- Ventral - abdominal side
- Dorsal - along back
- Superior - towards the head
- Inferior - towards the feet
- Medial - towards the midline
- Lateral - away from the midline
- Proximal - towards the torso
- Distal - away from the torso
- Superficial - towards the surface
- Deep - towards the core
