  • Basic dance steps derived from human's basic movements:
  • Walking:
    • Moving through space by shifting weight from one foot to the other without losing contact with the floor
  • Running:
    • Moves through space by shifting weight from one foot to the other with short periods of non-support while the body and feet are off the floor
  • Jumping:
    • Springing on one foot or both feet and landing on both feet by pushing off the floor with a strong foot and knee extension
  • Hopping:
    • Springing on one foot and landing on the ball of the same foot
  • Skipping:
    • Moving in a light, springy manner by bounding forward with alternate hops on each foot
  • Sliding:
    • Gliding or going down to the right foot in a slow beat, close to the left foot to the right foot, shifting the weight quickly onto the left foot
  • Leaping:
    • Transferring weight from one foot to the other by pushing off with a spring and landing on the ball of the other foot
  • Turning:
    • An act of changing or reversing position or posture, as by a rotary movement; a turn of the head
  • Swaying:
    • Moving back and forth or from one side to side, as if about to fall
