  • Elements of Dance:
    • Body: refers to how the entire body is molded in space or the configuration of the body parts
    • Action: any human movement included in the act of dancing, such as dance steps, facial movements, partner lifts, gestures, and everyday movements like walking
    • Space: the area performers occupy and where they move, also known as spatial elements, and the relationship of the dancers to each other
  • Different Aspects of Space:
    • Direction: dance movements can travel in any direction (forward, side, backward, diagonal)
    • Size: movements can be varied by doing larger or smaller actions
    • Levels: movements can be done in a high, medium, or low level
    • Focus: performers may change their focus by looking at different directions
  • Time: executed in varying tempo (speed)
  • Energy: about how the movement happens, including variations in movement flow and the use of force, tension, and weight
