Maths: Algebra + Coordinate Geometry

Cards (8)

  • The equation of the line passing through the x and y axis with gradient m is y = mx + c
  • When do you use the substitution method?
When solving for y-intercept with only one point or two points & when the question asks if the point is on the line
  • m = gradient/slope
  • (x,y) coordinates are read as "(x comma y)"
  • y2-y1/x2-x1 = gradient (m)
  • The x intercept is when the line hits the x axis. The y intercept is when the line hits the y axis.
  • The x intercept is when y is = to zero. For example, (3,0) the x intercept is 3.
  • The y intercept is when x is = to zero. For example, (0,5) the y intercept is 5.
