Uses of Plastics

• Poly(propene):

  • Easy to mould, lower density than polythene
  • Fairly rigid and tough, useful for making packing crates
  • Can be stretched into fibres used in ropes
• Poly(vinylchloride):

  • Does not react easily, so it's durable
  • Highly fire-resistant
  • Useful in construction like drainpipes and window frames
