Higher temps increase heat related illnesses. they make it harder to work and move around. Wild fires start more easily and spread more rapidly
Severe storms
They happen because of change in rainfall. landslide destroy homes and they cost communities billions
Increased drought
Increased drought stirs sand storms that move billions of tons of sand across the continents. Deserts spread which reduces the amount of land that can be farmed and there is a threat of not having water on a daily basis
Warming and rising oceans
The ocean soaks up most of the heat from global warming - this melts ices sheets and raises sea level which threatens coastal towns. the ocean also absorbs more CO2 making it more acidic which endangers animals
loss of species
Forest fires, extreme weather, invasive pests and diseases threaten the survival of species
not enough food
changes in climate and increase in extreme weather events contribute to global hunger and poor nutrition. Fisheries, crops and livestock is all destroyed or produce less. Heat stress diminishes water and grasslands for grazing
health
changing weather patterns expand diseases ie malaria. extreme weather increases disease death. Increased hunger in places where food is hard to find means people can't eat which weakens their immune system
Food security
all people at all time have social, economic and physical access to safe and nutritious food that meets their dietary requirements
