• Africa is the most impacted by the effects of climate change even though it contributes the least to it. Its climate is the most seasonally and decadal the most variable. This is because Africa has a low adaptive capacity

  • existing challenges mean the variability and change of climate is exacerbated
  • Low GDP per capita
  • Widespread endemic poverty
  • Low levels of education, low levels of primary health care
  • limited access to capital (markets, infrastructure, technology)
  • ecosystem degradation
