  Romeo hides from his friends joking about Rosaline - they don't realise he's fallen in love with Juliet
• Scene 2 


  • Romeo hears Juliet talking about her new love, unaware he's there
  • They profess their love for each other and arrange to get married the following day with the Nurse's help
• Scene 3


  • Romeo persuades Friar Lawrence to marry him to Juliet
  • The Friar is surprised but agrees in hope it will unite the families
• Scene 4


  • Benvolio and Mercutio discuss a challenge set by Tybalt
  • Romeo joins them and then the Nurse asks when Juliet should meet him
• Scene 5


  The Nurse tells Juliet about the marriage arrangements
• Scene 6


  Romeo and Juliet meet before they marry (off stage)
• "Can I go forward wen my heart is here? Turn back, dull earth, and find thy centre out."


  Scene 1

  Romeo talks to himself about how much he loves Juliet
• "What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun."


  Scene 2

  Romeo says Juliet is the centre of his universe
• "O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore "art thou Romeo?

  A rose by any other name would smell as sweet."


  Scene 2

  Juliet laments about the trouble that the feuding families will cause
• "Holy Saint Francis, what a change is here!...young men’s love then lies not truly in the hearts but in their eyes."


  Scene 3

  The Friar talks about how boys feel love - it's purely visual
• "Then hie you hence to Friar Lawrence’s cell, there stays a husband to make you a wife."


  Scene 5

  The Nurse informs Juliet of the marriage arrangements
• "These violent delights have violent ends, and in their triumph die like fire and powder, which as they kiss consume."


  Scene 6

  Friar Lawrence warns Romeo that even though his quick love is enjoyable their deaths could also be quick
