• genes: code for a protein
• DNA:

  • double helix shape
  • made up of nucleotides
  • nucleotides are made up of phosphate (circle), ribose (pentagon) and a base (a-t, c-g)
• Protein synthesis

  • there are about 20 different amino acids
  • each group of 3 bases code for amino acids
  • Amino acids must be connected in the correct order to create a specific protein that can fold properly and do its job.
