  • strengths of the two process model
    1. supporting study- little albert, shows acquisition of phobias
    2. can account for unusual phobias if they were acquired through a specific event
  • weaknesses of the two process model
    1. counter research by DiNardo: conditioning events like dog bites had happened to people who did and didn't develop dog phobias. this suggests that the model cannot explain all phobias and other factors need to be taken into account.
    2. doesnt consider biological preparedness (reductionist).
