It isn't certain whenmultiple attachments are formed as Bowlby states primary attachments are made first, however other psychologists state that babies form multiple attachments from the beginningdue to family.
Measuring multiple attachments
Just because a baby gets distressed when an individual leaves the room doesn't necessarily mean that they are the primaryattachmentfigure. Children also have playmates. Therefore it is difficult to differentiate between playmates and attachmentfigures.
