    • socialisation can counteract biology = LPF not socialise properly = leads to benefits = increase underclass crime
    • LPF - absent fathers- lack parental discipline - no role model = turn to delinquent role to gain status through crime

    • rational choice theory : Believe it a choice based on rational calculation of consequences
    • Structural- places cause solely on the individual- ignores capitalism/poverty
    • Impulse- rational choice doesn’t account for crimes that are not calculated
    • Contradiction - says crime is deterministic - but rational choice says it is voluntaristic
