  Longyearbyen's power station supplies all of Svalbard's energy

  Decline in coal as Svalbard moves towards geothermal energy

  Has a potential for solar energy in summer due to its 24 hours of sunlight
• Mining

  Over 300 people used to be employed in Svea

  Now Mine 7 has 30 jobs

  Norway has decided to become more environmentally friendly and as Svalbard is a territory of Norway it abides by the rules
• Tourism

  In 2019 there were 150000 visitors

  In winter tourists go to see the Northern Lights

  Cruise ships are a very common way tourists visit Svalbard
