  • Not yet specilised to complete a job/function
  • they have the ability to express any genes
  • can divide by mitosis
  • Dont enter cell senescence
• Sorces of stem cell:

  • Embryonic- collected from blastocyst- can differentiate into anything
  • Adult stem cells- collected from bone marrow- limited
  • Umbilical cord
  • Induced pluropotent- reprogrammed stem cells
• stem cell uses:

  • regenerative medicine
  • Grow heart tissue
  • regenerate hair follicles
  • skin grafts
  • overcome spinal issues
• pluripotent = undifferentiated
