  • May 1847 - Wyatt becomes lawman after facing down rowdy cowboys - rowdy cowboys were making problems to Wyatt helped the marshal as he was a good fighter - he later became marshal of Tombstone Arizona
  • Tombstone's conflict was between big businessmen and ranchers - Tombstone was controlled by mine owners and businessmen, ranchers and cowboys didn't like them - Clantons and Mclaury's especially hated the businessmen - 1880, the businessmen ordered Wyatt as deputy sheriff to bring order to the town
  • Tombstone becomes increasingly lawless - clashes between Earps (Wyatt + bothers) and Clantons + Mclaurys - the lawmen tried to stop them from cattle rustling and robbing stagecoaches - bit rumours spread that the Earps had also been apart if the stagecoach robbery - Earps and their followers denied this
  • The Earps win the gunfight at the OK Corall - gunfight in October 1881, near Tombstone's OK Corall, the Earps brothers killed Tom and Frank Mclaury and Billy Clankton - the Earps claimed they only meant to disarm the men but they took shot first (many didn't believe this)
  • the Earps and the Cowboys continued to feud - trouble continued, the cowboys shooting two of the Earps brothers in 1882 - Wyatt shot two men claimed responsible - opinions turned against the Earps; their violent approach caused more conflict and Wyatt had become a murderer regardless of the law - Wyatt and his brothers were forced to run away from Tombstone
