  an attempt to over throw the government
• led by Wolfgang Kapp
• happened in 1920
• The Allies to Ebert to reduce the size of the Freikorps as the ToV only allowed a 100000 man army - this made the Freikorps angry - so led by Wolfgang Kapp, they marched to Berlin and said they would overthrow the gov as they didn't want to be unemployed and wanted the Kaiser back
• Ebert ran away from Berlin - he expected the army to help him - however, the army didn't help him, as the leader, General Seeckt, would not make the official army fight the unofficial army (he saw them as the same)
• without the armies support, Ebert ordered the general public to go on strike and to not cooperate with the Kapp - workers did this as they didn't want the return of the Kaiser - after 4 day, Kapp realised it was no use, the electricity, gas and water stopped and he would have to force people to work for him - he ran away but was caught and imprisoned for life
• Kapp Putsch = fail - Freikorp = disbanded
