The phonological loop

Cards (2)

  • What does the phonological loop do?
It deals with auditory information and has a limited capacity.
  • What did Baddeley (1986) divide the phonological loop into?
    1. The phonological store: 'inner ear' holds information we hear for 1-2 seconds.
    2. Articulatory process: holds words heard or seen and silently repeated (looped) like an inner voice. This is a kind of maintenance rehearsal.
