auxins

Cards (4)

  • Why are shoots positively phototrpic
    • auxins accumulate on the shaded side of the shoot causing cells to grow faster on the shaded side and shot towards light
  • Why are shoots negatively geotropic
    • gravity producees an unequal amount of auxins on the lower side of the shoot (more on the lwer side) causing the lower side to grow faster and bend the shoot upwards
  • Why are roots positively geotropic
    • more auxin on it's lower side of root.
    • inhibits growth on lower side causing cells on the top to grow faster and bend downwards ( towards gravity)
  • why are roots negatively photographic
    • more auxins on shaded side of root
    • inhibits cell elongation on shaded side so root bends backwards into the ground
