• just war: A war which meets internationally accepted criteria for fairness
• obligatory war: A war that God commanded Jews to fight
• defensive wars: Wars that Jews are obliged to fight if attacked
• Genesis 9:6: "Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in His image did God make man"
• Deuteronomy 20:10-12: "When you approach a town to attack it, you shall offer it terms of peace"
• Proverbs 25:21: "If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink."
