hypothesis
states what you believe is true. It is a precise and
testable
statement of the
relationship
of two variables.
There are different types of hypothesis which can be used based on how confident you are in your predictions:
Directional
hypothesis (1 tailed)
Non-directional
hypothesis (2 tailed)
Null
hypothesis
Directional
/
one
tailed hypothesis– states the
direction
of a predicted
difference
between 2 conditions
Non directional
/ two tailed hypothesis– states there will be a difference between
2
conditions but doesn’t specify how
Null hypothesis– predicts there will be no significant difference between conditions
