Solutions and Effectiveness

• A solution is to install kissing gates to prevent animals escaping. This has stopped animals escaping.
• A solution is to build bigger car parks. This has been difficult as car parks are expensive to build.
• Solution: passing places​. Effectiveness: reduced farm traffic​
• Solution: increase public transport​. Effectiveness: not effective because people find it more convenient to drive. ​
• Solution: lay large stones on footpath to encourage walkers to stay on route. ​​Effectiveness: Stones have been durable and have prevented further erosion.
• Solution: install a ladder over the wall. Effectiveness: has prevented wall damage.
• Solution: restricted camping zones. Effectiveness: has prevented people wild camping in Loch Lomond from March – September.
• Solution: remove bins and encourage visitors to take litter home. Effectiveness: Has reduced the cost of emptying bins.
• Solution: signs to keep dogs on lead.​ Effectiveness: this has stopped sheep worrying.
• Solution: watersports speed restrictions . Effectiveness: has reduced erosion but means lost business as tourists go elsewhere. ​
