What is interdependence?
organisms depending on eachother for survival (forming a community)
What is an abiotic factor
non living factors e.g. light temperature soil pH CO2
what is a biotic factor
living factors e.g. food, predators/prey and pathogens
what is an ecosystem
the interaction of a community of living organisms with the abiotic parts of their environment
what is a stable community
A community where all the species and environmental factors are constant so population sizes remain constant
what is a structural adaptation?
A physical feature that allows it to survive
what is a behavioural adaptation
behaviours which give them and advantage e.g. migration
what are functional adaptations
Processes inside and organism that allow them to survive e.g. creating poison
What is an extremophile
An organism that lives in an extreme environment eg. High temp high pressure or high salt concentrations
what is a producer
A plant that uses the suns energy to photosynthesis making glucose
What are the other levels of the food chain
primary consumer
secondary consumer
tertiary consumer
what is the predator prey cycle
the number of predators increase because there is more prey
the number of prey decrease because there is more predators
the number of predators decrease because there is less prey
