cycles

Cards (5)

  • What is the importance of the water cycle?
    • Maintains habitats
    • Needed for transport in organisms
    • Allows for chemical reactions in cells
    • Needed for photosynthesis
  • What is the water cycle?
    • Precipitation/ rain
    • Percolation/ water goes into the ground
    • Ground water /goes into the ocean
    • Ocean water evaporates
    • Plants transpire
    • Water vapour cools and condenses into clouds.
  • Where in the carbon cycle is carbon released into the atmosphere?
    • Respiration -All organisms respire, releasing CO2.
    • Decomposition - Microorganisms break down dead organisms and respire.
    • Fossil fuels - Decomposed organisms become fossil fuels over time and when they are combusted they release CO2.
  • Where in the carbon cycle is carbon transferred along?
    • Photosynthesis - Plants photosynthesise and carbon dioxide is a reactant.
    • Feeding - Animals consume plants and carbon compounds are made.
    • Decay - When organisms are decayed carbon compounds are made and mineral ions are returned into the soil.
  • What are examples of carbon compounds?
    • Proteins
    • Lipids
    • Starch
