  • Kind and calm - Gentle hands will let the victim not feel fear or become panicked.
  • Alert and watchful - A good first aider must be watchful not only on the victim, but also on his or her surroundings.
  • Ingenious - A good first aider must know how to apply first aid to the victim with minimal resources, with or without equipment.
  • Polite - A good first aider should be tactful.
  •  Sensitive - The first aider should make the patient feel comfortable and at ease.
  • Fast in decision-making - A good first aider should be quick to perform actions
  • Efficient and confident - Because time is vital in giving first aid, the first aider must be efficient by not wasting time.
  • STEP 1: Ask for help
  • STEP 2 and 3: Inspect the scene
  • STEP 4: Face the victim and introduce yourself
  • STEP 5: Intervene and conduct assessment
  •  If the victim does not respond, perform a primary assessment. Check for CAB.

  • If circulation is present perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • If circulation and breathing are present, conduct a secondary assessment.

  • Chest Compression - Act of mimicking the heartbeat so that the blood flow may return.
