• How do convection currents work?

  1. When the fluid is near the heat source, it gains thermal energy and rises up as it becomes less dense
  2. As it moved away from the heat source the particles collide with other particles which causes them to transfer energy away from themselves
  3. This means they fall back down towards the heat source
  4. This process then repeats and forms a convection current
