As the
arteries

arterioles.
Capillaries
are very thin, delicate tubes.
The membranes of the
capillary walls
make the easy entry of small molecules dissolved in the blood.
These substances are mostly
dissolved foods
,
waste products
, and
gasses
which pass freely through the
capillaries
and diffuse into
adjacent
cells.
