Benefits of quantitative data compared to qualitative

Cards (3)

  • Benefit 1: easy to analyse
One benefit of using quantitative data in research is that it is easy to analyse. Researchers can use statistical tests to identify patterns, averages, or differences between groups, which makes it easier to draw clear conclusions
  • Benefit 2: objective data
Another benefit is that the data is objective and less open to interpretation. For example, measuring how many hours someone sleeps gives a straightforward number, making the findings more reliable and replicable
  • Benefit 3: comparison to qualitative
In contrast, qualitative data is more detailed and descriptive, but this can make it harder to analyse and compare across participants. So while quantitative data may miss some depth, it allows for quicker, more consistent analysis, which is especially useful in large-scale studies
