MATH: REASONING AND PROOFS

• Reasoning in geometry can be done in two ways— inductive and deductive. In inductive reasoning, conclusion is obtained by observing a pattern. The conclusion obtained from inductive reasoning is not necessarily true. This conclusion is also called a conjecture
• In deductive reasoning, conclusion is based on facts such as definition of terms and properties. Conclusion from deductive reasoning is true when the hypotheses are also true
• Therefore can be illustrated as ∴
