How to measure the range of radiation

• Alpha 


  Alpha particles get blocked by a sheet of paper as they are unable to penetrant the paper
• Beta 


  Beta particles are able to go through paper but is unable to penetrate through thick aluminium
• Gamma 


  Gamma rays are able to to go through paper, aluminium and lead but if there is more layers of lead it will not be able to go through.

  • That is why they normally contain radioactive particles in a lead box
