Spreadsheet Software performs calculations and numerical analyses. Examples include Microsoft Excel, Apple iWork Numbers, and OpenOffice Calc
Word Processing Software is used to create and edit documents like research papers, class notes, and résumés. Examples include Microsoft Word and Apple iWork
Database Software is used to store and organize data in fields, records, and tables. Examples include MS Office Access and Oracle Database
Presentation Software is for multimedia presentations. Examples are Microsoft Office PowerPoint, Apple iWork Keynote, Google Slides, and Prezi
Personal Information Manager Software helps manage e-mail, contacts, calendars, and tasks. Examples are MS Outlook, Yahoo!, and Google-Gmail
Multimedia & Entertainment Software includes Digital Image/Video editing Software, Digital Audio Editing Software, Game Creation Software, and Educational Software
Small Business Software includes Accounting software like Intuit QuickBooks, Desktop publishing (DTP) software like Microsoft Publisher and Adobe InDesign, and Web page-Authoring software like Microsoft Expression Web and Adobe Dreamweaver
Digital Image Editing software is used for editing photos, and examples are Adobe Photoshop and Corel Paint shop pro
