Chapter 3

• Joshua and the Israelites left the Acacia Grove and went to the Jordan, where they stayed before crossing
• Officers commanded the people to follow the ark of the covenant carried by the Levitical priests
• Joshua instructed the people to consecrate themselves because the Lord would do wonders among them the next day
• The priests carried the ark of the covenant ahead of the people
• The Lord promised to exalt Joshua in the sight of all Israel, showing that He would be with Joshua as He was with Moses
• When the priests carrying the ark reached the Jordan, the water flowing downstream stood still, allowing the Israelites to cross on dry ground
• The water flowing downstream into the Dead Sea was completely cut off as the priests stood firmly on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan
