  • As an influential London physician in 1660s to 1670s.
  • He worked at a time when scientific learning was very fashionable, e.g. the royal Society
  • Published his textbook observations on medicine in 1676.
  • He was nicknamed the English Hippocrates, because his methods of observations were similar to Hippocrates.
  • Sydnam took a much more scientific approach to disease than any other physician.
