  • Positive psychologists believe we should acknowledge the role free will plays in peoples behaviour . Feeling in control of our thoughts emotions and behaviour can help individuals achieve happiness .Therefore individuals who do not feel in control of their thoughts emptions and behaviour may experience psychological problems.
  • Mindfulness encourages people to be more aware of their own thoughts feelings and be able to self regulate them. This means they should be able to take control of them and use them to increase their level of life satisfaction.
  • In cases of stress mindfulness can help people feel as though they have control over their responses. It increases awareness of bodily sensations to help them identify stress responses earlier and help people experience thoughts as transient events that will pass not representations of reality .
