Series + Parallel

Cards (10)

  • Series circuits = all components on one loop (series); current is the same everywhere (no where else for it to go); voltage splits.
  • Parallel circuits = current splits at junctions; voltage is the same everywhere
  • In series = current the same
  • In series = voltage splits
  • In parallel = current splits (places for it to go)
  • In parallel = voltage is the same
  • if you measure voltage on a series circuit it would not be equal
  • disadvantage of series = if one bulb breaks, they all go out
  • advantage of series = easy to install
  • advantage of parallel = if a bulb breaks, others would still work; each bulb has the same voltage so lights the same + brighter than series
