Nature of humanity

• Created imago dei - in Gods image and likeness - we can have a spiritual connection with God.
• Humans have souls - are eternal beings - God breathed his spirit into Adam - souls go to afterlife.
• Free will - we can freely choose to listen to God - story of Adam and Eve show this and shows we are fallen (original sin).
• Rational - humans are intellectual we can work things out by ourselves- moral (right and wrong).
• Creative - sexual beings (reproduction), ability to appreciate poetry, literature and art.
• Fallen - although created perfect - humans fell from perfection through sin.
• Thomas Aquinas says humans are essentially good and are focused on perfection and good acts.

  Humans do not intentionally commit evil or sinful acts.

  Any wrong or sinful acts are due to a mistake or lack of reasoning.
