Friction is a force between 2objects that rub, bump, slide or roll against each other. Friction causes object to slowdown and eventually stop.
Rougher surfaces create more friction than smooth surfaces. It is a lot easier to ride a bike on a newly paved road than on a dirt trail.
The weight of an object pushing on the surface causes more friction. The amount of surface in with contact with one another surface also affects the amount of friction.
Static friction is a friction that occurs when the surfaces in contact are at rest or not in motion
Rolling friction is a a friction that occurs between surfaces in motion that are rolling in which one of the surfaces is a wheel, roller or ball.
Sliding friction is a friction that opposes the direction of motion of an object that occurs when solid surfaces slide over one another.
Fluid friction is the force that tries to slow objects down when they move through a liquid or a gas. It is also known as “ Drag “ or “ Air resistance “
