  • Microscopy - The use of microscope to observe objects too small to see with the naked eye.
  • Stain - Coloured dye that makes parts of cells visible under the microscope.
  • Magnify - To make something appear bigger.
  • Objective Lens - Increases the magnification of the specimen.
  • Slide - Piece of glass you put the specimen onto.
  • Specimen - The sample that you are observing.
  • Coarse Focus Knob - Used to adjust the focus of the microscope.
  • Fine Focus Knob - Used to fine-tune the focus on the specimen.
  • The total magnification is calculated by multiplying the eyepiece lens magnification with the objective lens magnification.
