1.1 - Systems Architecture

• Von Neumann's architecture consists of: Program Counter, Memory Address Register, Memory Data Register, Accumulator
• The CPU consists of three main parts:

  1. The Control Unit has main control over the CPU with the fetch-execute cycle
  2. The Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU) carries out calculations
  3. The Cache is very fast memory and stores frequently used data
• An embedded system is a computer system with only one specific function
