Circulatory System

Cards (20)

  • The nervous system has two main components: the central nervous system (CNS) and the peripheral nervous system (PNS).
    • Central nervous system (CNS) - is made up of the brain and spinal cord.
    • Nerve : is a cordlike bundle of fibers
    • Nervous system : is a complex network of nerves
    • Neurons : cells that make up he brain and the nervous system
    • Nerve cell : is the basic functional unit of he brain and is designed to transmit information to other nervecells
    • Cell body : contains the nucleus and connects to the dendrites and the axons
    • Dendrites are tubelike branches that recieve information from other neutrons
    • Sensory neurons : nerve cells that are activated by input
    • Motor Neutrons : carry messages from the brain
    • Interneurons : create neural pathways
    • Brain : is a highly specialized organ in the nervous system
    • Cerebrum : is the largest part of the brain
    • Cerebellum : is located under the cerebrum
    • Brain stem : is found in the lowest part of the brain
  • the cerebrum consists of two hemispheres, The left hemispere and The right hemisphere
    • Left hemisphere: controls the right side of the body
    • Right hemisphere: controls the left side of the body
    • Spinal cord : is a bundle of nerve tissues
    • Peripheral nervous system : consists of the nerves and nerve clusters
