    Self-pollination & cross-pollination
  • self-pollination is when the male gamete fertilises the female gamete within the same flower or on another part of the plant.
  • cross-pollination is when the male gamete from one flower fertilizes the female gamete from another flower, usually from different plants.
  • sepals - surround and protect the flower in its bud stage.
  • petals - surround the reproductive of the flower and are usually brightly coloured to attract insects for pollination
  • animal pollinated - pollination is done by animals (bees, birds, insects)
  • wind- pollinated - wind carries pollen from anther to stigma
  • water- pollinated - water transports pollen from anther to stigma
