Matter

• Matter is any substance that has mass and takes up space by having volume
• The three basice states of matter are the solid,liquid,and gas
• Solid is arranged in an orderly manner,and are packed very tightly and vibrate in fixed position.
• Liquid is particles are arranged in a disorderly manner. They are packed tightly together but there is some room or sliding past each other.
• Liquids will also take shape of whatever container it happens to be in
• Gas particles are arranged in a disorderly manner.they are very far apart from each other   and they move at high speed in random direction.
• The changes in states of matter are melting freezing sublimation deposition condensation and vaporization
• Melting is a process by which a substance changes from the solid phase to the liquid phase
• Freezing is the process of a substance changing from liquid to solid
• Vaporization is a process where a substance changes from liquid phase to gas phase
• Condensation is gas phase to liquid phase
• Deposition is gas phase to solid phase
• Sublimation is solid phase to gas phase
• Mixture is a physical combination of two or more substance
• Pure substances is made of just one type of atom and molecules
• Atom is the basic or fundamental unit that makes up all matter different types of atoms are chemical elements
• Molecules is the smaller particle of a substance that retains all the properties of substances and is composed of one or more atoms
• Heterogeneous mixture is one in which part remain separate
• Homogeneous mixture is one in which different parts has uniformly combined into new substances
• Physical properties undergoes physical change and without any change in composition
• Chemical properties of a substance to undergo chemical changes to become a different kind of matter
