    • Overloading of deep periosteal insertions
    • ? Predisposed by increased pronation (Neal et al, 2014)
    • Pre stress fracture
  • Periostitis & Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome - Treatment:
    • Rest
    • Ice
    • NSAIDs
    • Orthotic/ mechanical correction
    • Training modification
    • Non weightbearing if stress fracture
    • Address contributing factors
  • Periostitis & Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome - Signs & Symptoms:
    • Pain on weightbearing
    • Tenderness on palpation
    • Thickened medial tibial border to palpate
    • X-ray may show thickened cortex
    • Be wary of pain on the anterior tibia. Possible anterior cortex stress fractureHigh Risk
