  • batista → VIP, made all the decisions
  • severe lack of freedom → if disagreed with batistamilitary would come after you + execute you
  • batista → friendly with the US. this was good for the US because → it kept cuba on their side
  • cuba exported sugar/ sugar canes to the US → US gains profit which made cubans angry + dissatisfied with their government ( they were a poor country and needed the money).
