P - Limitation , not effective for all phobias
Some psychologists suggest social phobias are caused by irrational thinking and not unpleasant experiences ( classical conditioning )
Therefore , more complex phobias cannot be treated by behaviourist treatments and may be more responsive to other forms of treatment such as CBT
Not a full treatment , some still go untreated and so lowers validity
D - However , it has been shown to be effective for certain types of phobias and so can still effectively treat those , potentially asking patients questions about their phobic acquisition may aid in narrowing down those who show promise to be treated
