Eyes transmit visual stimuli to the brain for interpretation
Eylids- Two removable structures that protects the eye from foreign body and limit amount of light entering the eyes
Eyslashes- stiff hair projections along eyelid margins. Filters sirt from entering the eye.
Conjunctiva- thin, transparent membrane that protects the eye from foreign bodies
Lacrimal Glands produces tears
ExtraocularMuscles- 6 muscles attached to eyeball surface that control eye movement
Sclera- dense protective white covering that physically support internal eye structures
Cornea- permits the entrance of light which passes through the lens to the retina
Iris- circular disc pf muscle determining eye color
Pupil- size adjusted by the muscles in the iris controlling the light entering the eye
lens- biconvex transparent structure posterior to the iris. It bends light to the retina. It bulges to focus on close objects and flattens to focus on far objects
Retina- receives visual stimuli and sends it to the brain. Consist of numerous nerve cells including rods and cones.
