HIC - wealthiest countries and GNI per head is high eg - UK USA Canada France
LIC - poorest countries and GNI per head is low eg- Afghanistan Somalia Uganda
NEE - countries wealth doesnt stay the same and some are rapidly getting richer as their economy moves from primary industry (agriculture) to secondary (manufacture)
eg- Brazil Nigeria Turkey
Human development index (HDI) - combines different measures of development -
HDI is calculated using: income (GNI per head), life expectancy and education level - every country has a HDI value between 0 and 1 (most developed) eg europe is mainly >0.8
HDI tells us both about the level of economic development and quality of life
