Midfoot conditions

• Common presentations:

  • Tendinopathy at insertions
  • commonly Tibialis Posterior, Peroneus Brevis, Peroneus Longus
  • Ligament injuries e.g. commonly spring ligament
  • Plantar fascia tear
  • Stress fracture
  • commonly: navicular, 2nd + 5th Metatarsal, cuboid
  • Tarso-Metatarsal Joint Osteoarthritis
  • Lisfranc injury - Metatarsal bone displaced from tarsus/midfoot due to ligament injury, fracture or combination
• Lisfranc injury - MOI:

  • often torsional force and or axial load
  • can also be from a direct impact injury
