warrior brotherhoods

• formed when the IP who had proved their bravery and skill in fighting
• they trained young men in fighting skills and taught them about their tribes beliefs and values - warrior brotherhoods were not under the command of the tribal council this meant they didn't always respect peace treaties
• leading men from brotherhoods were also invited to join the guard unit which would organise the yearly buffalo hunt - made sure that old/ill tribe members were fed and chose where the tribe would camp
